The impact of now

Why do we plan to get fit next week, wait to quit smoking in the new year or commit to change sometime next month?

The answer is because we have been relentlessly conditioned to live in the future.  Think about it, why not exercise now, quit smoking today or change things immediately?  What’s stopping you, why are you holding back?

The world we live is becoming increasingly transient and to cope with this unnatural change we have reframed our attitude to life.  We now throw ourselves from one endeavor to the next, believing that speed and movement is all there is {yogi Iyengar}.  The consequence of this ephemeral lifestyle is that we have lost touch with what matters most, the present.  We constantly focus on the future, planning, saving, waiting. So much so that we sacrifice now in favor of a point in time that will always be just out of reach.

These same behaviours are now becoming prevalent within business culture.  Manager, leaders and team members are constantly focussed on the future, planning, projecting and preparing.  So much so that the immediate need for action, collaboration or communication is neglected, resulting in less than optimal business decisions.

Thankfully there is a solution, an opportunity to recalibrate what matters most to your business, your people, and I call it The Excellence Project.
